Dressing in the Style of LAIKA’s Wildwood
If there is one thing I love, it’s dressing for a theme, so of course I had to create a look inspired by LAIKA’s new film, Wildwood.
I’ve always loved the world LAIKA creates. Everything feels handmade, imaginative, a little strange, and completely magical. Wildwood has this beautiful woodland world with so many rich colors, textures, and whimsical details, and I immediately started thinking about how I could translate that feeling into an outfit.
Instead of recreating one specific character, I wanted to dress like I could actually exist inside the world of Wildwood. I played with earthy colors, layers, textures, and pieces that had that slightly vintage storybook feeling. I wanted the whole look to feel adventurous and playful while still feeling like my own personal style.
That is probably my favorite way to approach fashion. I love taking inspiration from movies, art, characters, and imaginary worlds and figuring out how to turn that inspiration into something wearable. You do not have to wear a costume to dress like your favorite film. Sometimes it is just about pulling out the colors, shapes, textures, and overall feeling of that world.
Wildwood was such a fun one to interpret because the visual world is so different from what I normally wear, but I still found ways to make it feel like me.
Now I just need somewhere in Wildwood to wear it.
